“Vision Quest”

Some days ago, I went on what you would call a “Vision Quest – A Spiritual Journey,” in an effort to learn more about myself and my place in this so-called reality that we call Life.  I realized a couple of things during this quest and the most important one was the fact that my whole life has been a “Vision Quest” of sorts.

Ever since I was a little girl about eight or nine years of age I have felt that I am different from most other people in the world.  It wasn’t until I became an adult that I realized that as people, we are all basically the same, we are just shaped through our experiences and thus we become the people who we are today.  At those times when I was younger, I honestly believed that perhaps I was from another planet, because I felt so different from anyone else.

Even now, I still feel the echoes of those feelings, because I tend to have a view of the world that seems to be skewed, but not necessarily in a negative way — just different.  It has only been in the last six years or so that my interest in Reincarnation and the Pre-existence of the Soul has come into the picture for me.  Now, I find these amongst other similar subjects, such as Near Death Experiences and Astral Travel to be quite fascinating for me and for some odd reason, I can find very few people out there willing to discuss these subjects with me at any great length.  It’s as if they feel that if they talk about these things and give their honest opinions about them that I or perhaps others would think that they are weird or strange or something to that effect.

On the contrary, I am fascinated by the whole bit and I would genuinely like to talk to anyone who has experienced any of these phenomena.  To get a “first-hand” account of them, as it were.  Another fascination for me that I have had since as long as I can remember, are my dreams.  What are they really?  I have very vivid and unusual dreams and often times, I have even felt that I am experiencing a “previous lifetime.”  I can feel as if the person in my dreams is me, the “I” that exists inside this form that is called a body, but the “form” in the dream itself is different from the one I inhabit now in this lifetime.

It is at times such as these that I become even more fascinated by the subject and I wish to discuss it at length with anyone who may have more insight into the matter than I have gained previously.  It is for this main reason that I decided to start a blog about these subjects and others as well.  No “weird” subject as far as I’m concerned is “too weird” as long as we discuss it philosophically and try to discover what it could mean to the world at large; particularly what it means as far as our “Spirits” or “Souls” are concerned.

I actually got the idea from a quirky movie that I watched recently about a man working for a talk radio show in which he would invite people on the air to speak to him about all manner of “strange” subjects.  His tag line was something like “I’ll Believe You.”  So, I am taking this opportunity to create my own version of “I’ll Believe You,” in an effort to gain more insight into my own inner workings.

So, since this is my first post to this site, I’m hoping that someone, somewhere in that vast universe of ours is reading this and would like to post a comment or comments.  Then perhaps we may begin a forum to discuss such things and see if we can all somehow grow as a “people” and in the process expand our own beings and in effect become enlightened.

I look forward to your comments.  Until then remember this,  that I have come to learn for myself:  “Yesterday is History, Tomorrow is a Mystery and Today is a Gift — That is why we call it the Present.”  Be in the NOW — in the “Isness” of Life!  Enter ZEN from here …  PEACE!

Yours in Enlightenment,

Maria

    Hey Maria,
As far as I’m concerned, there’s no coincidences. Maybe you were expecting a response from some enlightened GURU, but for now it’s only me, your cousin in-law. I applaud you’re effort in seeking…….. I once discussed a thought experiment with my brother on the reality of dreams. It went something like this, “If something that you lived yesterday is only now a memory, and a dream that you had is only now a memory, by logical induction, they are both equal, either they are both an illusion or both a reality. The brain creates what the conscience is perceiving. The difference in types of creations between at night when we’re asleep and in the day when we’re awake is time and space. At night, the brain usually creates without the confines of time and space. The creations of the brain during our wake ours are usually done within the confines of time and space. As Albert Einstein postulated, time and space are relative- that is to say, not absolute. Which could be interpreted as time and space don’t exist. The brain creates time and space for the experiences of these dimensions. My wife, your cousin, and I experienced something to that effect of…. no space and time. A couple of years back, we were sitting on a plane heading home when she removed a bracelet she was wearing and stored it in a transparent bag she had by her feet. Throughout the trip, she would glance at the bag and see her bracelet. At a point in the trip before we reached home, she noticed the bracelet was gone. It was clear that the bracelet was no longer in the bag. We didn’t put a whole lot of effort into finding it. Months later, I was sweeping at home and moved some steps that hadn’t been moved in a long time and under the dirt and grime was the bracelet. My wife and I know that the bracelet was lost in the airplane and was no longer in that transparent bag. But we have no idea how it got home. It’s my gut feeling that the personalities such as Jesus, Buddha, Mohamed and other unknowns figured out how to be constantly in the now and thereby removing time and space from their brain creations and perform what we call miracles. I totally agree with you on the gift. WE ARE THE CONSCIENCE (AWARENESS) OF I AM. The brain receives electromagnetic energy and then creates the images, sounds, flavors, odors and textures for the conscience to perceive. 100% of what the conscience perceives is created by the brain. We perceive the same words in this blog because we are the same CONSCIENCE.

Ahhhh….it’s so nice to find a blog about metaphysical spirituality, instead of political ranting and raving (as if politics actually matter!)
I have been reading and watching many concepts regarding these issues, and it has been pointed out in a movie called “What the bleep do we know?” that the mind cannot differentiate between a memory and what is happening in the now, so to speak. according to ekg and other tests, the brain reacts in the same way for either case. They also state that according to quantum physics, matter is not much more substance than a hologram, and that our perceptions can actually change the subatomic particles of so called matter. Thus postulating that all of “reality is subjective to our beliefs.
And then of course there is the subject of how we perceive things will change how they actually are….to each of us any given situation may seem to be completely different, even to ourselves at other times in our developement. Even memeories are subject to this, and thus can be observed in many lights, so to speak.
According to “Zen and the art of Happiness” all events are merely events, and it is OUR perception that gives them power. The simple example given is a football game. A touchdown by your team seems vastly different than it does to the opposing team and their fans. And yet, what is it really? Just a touchdown. I am not a follower of any team, but do enjoy watching, so a good play by either side is appreciated in my mind, without the attachments driven by fandom. He goes on to point out that if we choose to see every occurence in our lives as the best possible thing that could have happened to us (based on the FACT that in the long run we will learn and grow from even the most painful events) then we will have happiness in our lives at all times. Simple concept, but not easy to impliment. I am assuming it grows easier in time ;0)
Thank you for the opportunity to share wisdom. It is greatly appreciated, and I hope you all will share with me!

    Peace,
    Beau

Well guys, I really thank you sincerely for responding to my post and I hope that eventually more people will have the courage to respond and perhaps even offer some insight into this whole philosophy. I look forward to posting many more insights in the hopes that we can get a lively discussion going regarding these esoteric matters. Until then, be in the Now and PEACE!
